Legacy Acres offers a range of youth camps for children aged 5 - 16. There are full day, week-long, weekend, and overnight camps throughout the year for all riding abilities. All of our lessons focus on safety, fun, leadership and respect. Camps are varied and incorporate natural horsemanship, riding instruction, horse care, grooming, feeding, and tacking in a fun and supportive environment. Lessons are customized to each student’s individual abilities, and groups are limited to four people for personalized attention. At our Week-Long Camps and we even decorate the horses with costumes and colorful spray paint!
Children will gain confidence as they navigate small obstacles, practice form and use their natural aids to control their horses both in the saddle and from the ground. We play games on horseback (poll bending, egg and spoon race, keyhole, water race, and red for stop and green for go), and campers will learn about different breeds, markings, parasites and diseases. Beginners will develop the basic riding skills of walk and trot. Advanced riders will finesse their skills while navigating more challenging obstacles, and learn about horse behavior, basic training, lead changes and rollbacks.
All ages and abilities are welcome. Check out the links above for more information.
Riders must wear pants such as jeans or tights, and boots with a short heel. Riding helmets are provided.
$50 non-refundable deposit is required to sign up for camp. We accept all major credit cards.
